## Weight is only one factor

Two structures of similar weight can require different amounts of work. The number of parts, connection geometry, material type and weld access all affect labour. An early budget should therefore consider the structure and scope of work, rather than estimated tonnage alone.

## Check the boundaries of the quotation

Establish whether the price covers documentation, surface preparation, painting, transport, erection and handover records. Clarify items that depend on site conditions separately. Comparing quotations without a common scope may suggest savings that are not actually available.

## Reduce uncertainty before placing an order

Not every decision can be made during concept design. You can still record assumptions, identify open questions and agree when they will be resolved. Changes after fabrication starts and deliveries split into many small batches deserve particular attention.
