## Agree communication arrangements

On an international project, agree the documentation language, units, drawing formats and decision-makers early. A short coordination brief helps reduce misunderstandings between the investor, designer and fabrication facility. Do not assume every participant uses the same document workflow.

## Distinguish fabrication from on-site work

Supply-only steelwork and a complete erection package are different delivery models. Clarify who arranges transport, unloading, equipment and on-site work. Requirements specific to the project country should be identified and checked by the responsible parties before scope confirmation.

## Prepare a brief for the first discussion

Share the project country and location, design stage and expected scope. Include available drawings and the schedule. Delivery feasibility should consider technical requirements, logistics and working arrangements; an English-language website does not imply every service is available in every country.

Location, documentation and division of responsibilities.

Local requirements and the people responsible for assessing them.

Delivery, erection and acceptance arrangements.
This guide helps you prepare for a project discussion. Structural solutions and technical requirements are determined by the designer for each building.
